POEM: ORCHIDS AT MY WINDOW

Wild sunshines of violet flower
dapple my gaze and demeanour
in the afternoon of roses, perhaps...

No, these are ample orchids of Venezuela
and go from here fast
its green entourage of life
and freedom in the chaos of yesteryear,

I look out to the maëlstrom
the cars and peoples - grim faces
busy flowers of my society
insued as afternoons
routine of dignity in work
and thought for eminence.

I look in
and find my real world
of cells and blood
            red stars...
and the wallpaper of dreams I forget.

Hero, look at me
and bless thy profile
in the drawing of life

as a map of sadness.
